Settled in 1653 as part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, transferred to Rhode Island in 1747.

The town of Warren is located in Bristol County Rhode Island, and is approximately 40 minutes from Newport. Warren is bounded by Barrington to the north;Bristol to the south; the state of Massachusetts to the northeast; the Warren River to the west; Kickemuit River to the east; and Palmer River to the north. Warren's working waterfront is one of the oldest in New England, with over 16 miles of shoreline, marine-based industries, and a thriving downtown offering a host of local art and antique shops, waterfront restaurants and more.

Factoid: Warren was the original home of Brown University, founded in 1764 as the college of Rhode Island.
